Gandy Company has developed a special Seed Transfer System (STS) for tending 8 to 36-row planters to reduce fill time, enabling farmers to spend more time actually planting. First-time operators report planting 100 more acres per day, by cutting down time to fill individual seed hoppers. When hopper is pressurized by hydraulic-driven blower, seed flows to individual row hoppers as the seed is planted. Keeping a reduced and constant weight in each planter unit provides more uniform depth of seed placement. Use the transfer for corn, soybean, or small grain planting to eliminate so much down time for filling individual hoppers.

The hopper cover is air sealed and pressurized. Seed flows to each planter seed box until seed covering the seed tube equals the tube’s air pressure. As the seed level drops, seed flow begins until seed again covers the air delivery tube.

The air transfer system hoppers--having available capacities of 64 or 80, and 96 or 120 bushels--can be filled by bulk bag, and will feed 8 to 24 rows on the two smaller capacities or up to 36 rows on the two larger units. The system can be ordered as a tow cart or as an implement-mount for installing on your own equipment, if the planter frame or assist wheels permit. Tow cart models have an optional single or double forward caster wheel to reduce tongue weight on planter, and optional coupler banks for quick detachment of cart from planter.

The hopper can be ordered to match most major planter colors, and be tailored to the number of outlets through selection of either 8 or 12-outlet manifolds to attach to the hopper. Plugs to seal unneeded outlets are included. A field video of the Gandy Seed Transfer System (STS) is available upon request.
